THE RISE OF SCIENCE


   Science has always been the key that unlocks the mysteries of the world, guiding society toward growth and survival. This year’s National Science Month theme, “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation,” reminds us of the endless possibilities waiting to be discovered. The unknown, once feared, now represents opportunities for breakthroughs that can transform the way people live, work, and interact with their environment.


   The role of science in society is not only to discover but also to create solutions to pressing global problems. In the coming decades, innovations in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and space exploration will shape industries and communities. These advancements will not only provide convenience but also address urgent challenges like climate change, public health, and food security. Science thus becomes a bridge that connects knowledge with the survival and progress of humankind.

   However, the power of science must be balanced with responsibility. Every new discovery comes with ethical questions and possible risks, which society must be ready to face. For example, while artificial intelligence can improve efficiency, it also raises issues about job security and data privacy. The same goes for genetic engineering, which can save lives but must be carefully regulated. Society must guide science with values of fairness, inclusivity, and sustainability to ensure that progress benefits everyone, not just a few.

   Equally important is the collaboration between nations, institutions, and individuals. Scientific breakthroughs cannot be achieved in isolation; they require collective effort, knowledge-sharing, and global partnerships. In the future, cooperation will be essential in tackling issues that transcend borders, such as climate change, pandemics, and energy security. Waves of Changes Starts and Ends with Us

  Last weekend, our group went to Choco surf for a film activity. While we were there, I noticed that the beach was filled with trash. Plastics, bottles, and wrappers were scattered everywhere, making the place look messy and harmful to the environment. Because of this, I decided to join the coastal clean-up activity. Even though I was by myself, I did my part to help clean the beach. I picked up bottles, bags, and even bulky trash that was left behind. At first, it felt overwhelming because there was so much waste, but little by little, the areas I cleaned started to look much better. I gathered more trash than I expected, and the bags I brought weren’t enough to hold everything. Some of the garbage I had to place in the trash bins around the beach. It was tiring, but seeing the beach cleaner afterward made all the effort worth it.
