National Children's Month

 Date: November 14, 2025

The 2025 National Children’s Month Celebration carries the powerful theme: “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” This theme reminds us that protecting children—especially in online spaces—is not only a responsibility but a moral duty. As technology becomes more present in our daily lives, children become more exposed to risks such as online exploitation, grooming, and abuse. This year’s celebration calls on the whole nation to take active steps in ending Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and stopping the spread of Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM).

From my perspective, the government has been strengthening efforts to protect children’s safety and dignity. Laws such as the Anti-OSAEC Law (Republic Act 11930) and the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act show that the government acknowledges the severity of the problem. Agencies like DSWD, PNP Women and Children Protection Center, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) are working together to track perpetrators, remove illegal online materials, and provide psychological support for victims. These efforts show that children’s welfare remains a national priority.

However, protecting children's rights is not just about creating laws. It requires strong implementation, fast reporting systems, and digital education for families. Parents, schools, and communities must also be aware of online dangers and learn how to guide children in using the internet safely. The government plays a crucial role in spreading awareness through campaigns, seminars, and school programs that empower young people to speak up when they feel unsafe.

In the end, the safety, dignity, and rights of children should always come before anything else. Every child deserves to grow up in an environment where they feel secure, respected, and protected—both offline and online. The theme of this year’s celebration is a reminder that we all share the responsibility of ending OSAEC and CSAEM. Protecting children today means protecting the future of our nation.
