Jose Rizal, the Face of the Philippines

 Jose Rizal is widely recognized as the face of the Philippines because of his profound influence on the nation’s identity, freedom, and intellectual awakening. His greatest contribution to Philippine society was his use of peaceful resistance through education, writing, and reform, which inspired Filipinos to recognize injustice and fight for national dignity without violence.




Through his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, Rizal exposed the abuses of Spanish colonial rule, particularly the corruption of friars and the suffering of ordinary Filipinos. These works awakened the national consciousness of the people, encouraging them to question oppression and assert their rights. His writings became powerful tools that united Filipinos and fueled the desire for reform and independence.


Beyond literature, Rizal’s advocacy for education emphasized the importance of knowledge as a means of liberation. He believed that an enlightened society could overcome tyranny and build a just nation. By promoting critical thinking and moral courage, Rizal helped shape the values of patriotism, self-respect, and social responsibility among Filipinos.


Rizal’s martyrdom further strengthened his legacy. His execution proved that ideas are more powerful than weapons. His life and sacrifices continue to inspire Filipinos to stand for truth, justice, and love of country, making him not only a national hero but the enduring symbol of the Filipino spirit.

Waves of Changes Starts and Ends with Us

  Last weekend, our group went to Choco surf for a film activity. While we were there, I noticed that the beach was filled with trash. Plastics, bottles, and wrappers were scattered everywhere, making the place look messy and harmful to the environment. Because of this, I decided to join the coastal clean-up activity. Even though I was by myself, I did my part to help clean the beach. I picked up bottles, bags, and even bulky trash that was left behind. At first, it felt overwhelming because there was so much waste, but little by little, the areas I cleaned started to look much better. I gathered more trash than I expected, and the bags I brought weren’t enough to hold everything. Some of the garbage I had to place in the trash bins around the beach. It was tiring, but seeing the beach cleaner afterward made all the effort worth it.
